Team Leaders

Qualifications of a Team Leader

  • Must be an emotionally and spiritually mature person
  • Needs to have an unquestionable Christian lifestyle and character.
  • Can be single, married, a college student, church staff member, or a layperson.
  • Must submit a Team Leader Registration/Medical Release Form, 2 recommendations, and a Background Check Verification Form.
  • Must be an active member of a Southern Baptist church.
  • Must have graduated from high school in 2014 or before, be no younger than 19 years of age and not over 45 years of age. The age requirement is necessary because of the strenuous schedule.
  • Must be in excellent health and physically fit (not pregnant, on crutches, in a cast, etc). Team Leaders live and eat with students, and are on duty virtually twenty-four hours a day.
  • Needs to have a positive, happy, motivated personality, with an ability to relate well to others.
  • Needs to be able to lead a small group in a devotional time, group discussion, Bible study, prayer time in the dorms, etc.
  • Must observe ALL of the rules of Super Summer.

Team Leaders should complete the Team Leader Registration Form, submit a Background Verification Form, and a Child Protection Training Certificate of Completion. In addition, Team Leaders are required to have TWO Recommendation Forms from (1) Pastor or Student Pastor and (2) one other individual who knows them well (not a relative or fiance).

Texas Law mandates that every adult working with students must provide a copy of a certificate of completion stating that they passed a Texas Youth Camp approved course in Child Protective Training within the past two years. We will provide training during Team Leader Training Weekend for those who do not already have their certificate of completion. Those adults who have completed this training, must submit a copy of their certificate, via email, to supersummerforms@gmail.com. It is the responsibility of those who participate to submit a copy of their certificate of completion.  Super Summer does not travel with the hard copies of certificates completed in previous years.

ALL TEAM LEADERS MUST ATTEND TEAM LEADER TRAINING WEEKEND that begins on the Saturday prior to their Super Summer week (NO exceptions). Team Leaders will remain on campus from check-in (3:00PM-4:00 PM) on Saturday until the end of their week at Super Summer. Team Leader training is essential to prepare Team Leaders and the schools Executive Staff leaders to work together in planning a successful Super Summer week.

Super Summer has a 1:6 Team Leader to Student ratio requirement. In the event that the Team Leader to Student ratio is not met within your group, there is a fee of $45 per student without a Team Leader.

NOTE: Because adults attending Leadership Forum or serving on Executive Staff of Super Summer are not available to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to Team Leaders, they cannot be counted toward the required Team Leader/student ratio
